Sure cuts a lot 2 keygen3/10/2024 My last batch - thanks everyone for participating - another wonderful recital!Ģ6. Maybe that's what seperates the really good song writers from the hacks. I can't help it, every time i try cutting out words I feel like I've lost the story I'm trying to tell. I've entered contests in the past and more often than not was told the same thing. You are not the first person to tell me I have too many words in my songs. The parenthesized words don't do much, or they do very little given how many beats they take up, and maybe they can be replaced with more imagery, or use the extra beats to elongate the most important images in the song. For example: (I can still see you) walking on the beach / (Your) thin sage dress blowing (just out of reach) / (There was) moonlight on the waves, etc. Almost all the lyrics are complete sentences, and I wonder if it would be more impactful if you took out some of the words that are a little like filler. Suggestion for improvement: I'm not sure about this suggestion I'm about to give you-it's just something to try if you want. The lyrics and the music remind me a little of Kate Bush's "The Man With the Child in Her Eyes." Piano playing is great! Peyton - Girl In the Rain Great production-the sound is so clean and well-mixed. I enjoyed some beach scenes instead of the usual wedding association!Ġ3. navindra (Navindra Umanee) - Canon in D Beautiful thank you! Sounded very evenly played and in time. Were you deliberately shifting the tempo back and forth a bit?ġ0. Playagain - Amazing Grace Nice arrangement, I agree! Which you played very nicely. Tim Adrianson - Sessions 3 A M (Excerpt 2) Interesting piece (excerpt!), you definitely capture that cathedrale-y sound!Ġ9. EdmondRhapsody - Kiss the Rain Very nice, I agree it evokes a feeling of thoughtful reflection!Ġ8. However you did the pedalling sounded great to me! I imagine no pedal would have left it feeling pretty disconnected like you said.Ġ7. rogerch - Adagio BWV 974 I really enjoyed this, what a lovely piece. Serge88 - Ave Maria Nice, I bet it was fun playing along with the accompaniment! I didn’t notice you finding it hard to stay in time with it!Ġ6. 1 Brought out the voicing and top melody very nicely!Ġ5. I really liked the effect of double tracking the voice.Ġ4. Peyton - Girl In the Rain Very nice + mournful. MarieJ - Sleeping Lotus The combo of your lovely playing and the video was so cool! The music reminded me of final fantasy video games, in a good way!Ġ3. Can I say as well, I was very jealous at how effortless it was for you to reach the F# to A chords (that first comes up in bar 2)!!Ġ2. 2 This was beautiful! I really enjoyed the way you brought out the voicing, particularly in the Tempo I triplet bit. Thank you Kepijapa (yes I agree it is a rather strange bird!), Gombessa, Gooseberry, Sam S for the feedback! You got it right-the improv starts at 0:47, but what a compliment you've given me, that you couldn't tell easily! Thanks for noticing the left hand-I had been focusing on right hand for month of this 8-month period, and the last month I thought I would try and get some left-hand flexibility back. The whole piece sounds great, and the playing from 1:40 - 2:00 was particularly good. Around 1:20 the left hand switches from walking bass to some delicious chords (wait! Is this where the head ends and the improv starts?). There were some spots where the left hand paused, letting the melody stand on its own which I really liked. The walking bass is very well done, and to my non-jazz ears the melody was swinging really well. I’m not familiar with the head so I actually don’t know when the transition happened, although I think it’s at 0:47. Nice job, this sounds great! The improv flowed very smoothly from the head. I'm fairly comfortable and can play without strain or pain, it just looks awkward. Until then this setup works (until it doesn't). Not that it matters, I really want to replace the digital with a grand in the not too distant future once I fully retire. I'm probably going to experiment and see if putting some 3/4" thick plywood underneath the feet will lift the keyboard to a better height. I think the next height is 32 or 33 inches to the tops of the keys, which is ridiculous and something that never should have passed the engineering or design stage. The built-in adjusters in the X stand are too much of a step between heights. You’re well on the way after only 2 weeks - congratulations! (I measured my Yamaha’s key tops and found they are 29.5 inches from the floor - so I think you could safely raise your keyboard just a bit for comfort.) As you say, your minuet could use more polish, but (like everything I’ve ever submitted) it is a work-in-progress. So pleased that you didn’t sit this one out.
